Interlibrary services
Interlibrary services allow you to get a copy of a book or an article published on a periodical which we don't have from other national or foreign libraries. This may be a pay-per-use service. Please consult the conditions that you find on this page to know the terms, costs and rules of the service.
You can request up to 5 books or articles per week on interlibrary loan or Document delivery through different channels.

This service allows you to keep track of your requests (*). To use it you must register (for free) by following the following steps:
(*) You can follow the process of the online request, but you will have to come to BEM to collect the hard copy of the document in compliance with current legislation. Unfortunately, emailing is not possible. To request an article:

COST OF SERVICE
The service can be free or pay-per-use. See the price list for details about the costs.
Payment must be made in cash upon receipt of the document and we will issue you a regular receipt.
If you are a teacher you can choose to charge the cost on your research funds.

PENALTIES
For interlibrary services, the same penalties apply as for the loan service.
BEM accepts requests from Italian and foreign libraries. The loans are limited to the volumes available for the external loan. The loan term is 30 days, renewable for an additional 15 days if the volume has not been requested by other users.
Italian libraries can request documents through the following channels:

The requesting libraries abide by the current legislation on copyright and comply to deliver to the end user only a hard copy of the requested articles.
COST OF SERVICE
The service is free of charge on the base of a reciprocity agreement:
- with the UNITED libraries,
- with those belonging to NILDE, ESSPER and BESS
- and with all those with which express reciprocity agreements have been signed.
For all other libraries, payment must be made by IFLA voucher upon return of the document(s) according to the following price list:

PENALTIES
In the event that the applicant library loses or returns items received on interlibrary loan damaged, it is required to replace it with another copy of the same edition, or - if this is not possible - of another edition agreed with the BEM.
